Weight: 510g

Note: Third-Kind Distribution is proud to announce the release of the new Nankai Bamboo, now available with a 32H alloy shell and a hollow 14mm axle. The Bamboo come with a little default gap compared with previous type of Nankai freecoasters and can be adjust as you want for your riding. The 14mm axle is strong and fits both for flatland and street. We already know that flatlanders love a 14mm axle because it does not bend and keep your rear pegs on a straight line (See Mo-Rich comment).

Pro riders comments:

Above all, I am actually happy that Nankai can be as light as they are now. Then, the aluminium shell has a new silhouette that is very beautifull. Compared with the previous versions, the gear is quicker because of the new "parts". When you are pedaling, it is very confortable.
There also is the problem of the freecoaster gap: Here the test riders wanted the perfect gap for using a freecoaster at his best. We asked Nankai to produce customized washers for increasing the Bamboo default gap. For your own riding you can use a loose setting or a tight setting. ...
Now I have been using a Bamboo (new sample) with a 14mm hollow axle. The axle does not bend wherever I ride, when I ride on the rear, both rolling and repetitive tricks, it works very flow and doesn't fell like it blocks at all. For the ones who put a lot of strength in the rear tricks, the 14mm axle is a great choice in my mind. Actually, if your body is over 60kg, it naturally come to a necessity.
The last years, the sealed bearings have been increasing. However, Nankai sticks to ball bearings. The reason is due to freecoaster system: When you are riding, the cog alternatively closes and opens that put a natural stress on the bearings. The sealed bearings tend to breakdown more easily and that is why Nankai prefers keep the ball bearings for the reliability of the product. About the maintainance, you cannot repair the creak on sealed bearings but you can easily do it with the Nankai spanner. The last reason why I consider the new Nankai has a very good freecoaster is it turns as no one!

Akira Okamura (MagicFruits)

I built a wheel with brand new spokes, nipples and rim when I receive the Bamboo 32H sample and I set the spoke's tension twice into the 3 following weeks. From then I had no broken or bended spokes despite I have been riding almost daily for more than 3months. I built a Proper rim with 6 spokes crossed (184mm), this is why I consider the best as you can tigthened spokes to the maximum.

Toshigon (dirty450)

Compared with all the previous Nankai freecoaster I used to ride, the 14mm axle makes a big difference, because it does not bend. As I ride a lot on the edge of the pegs I had always troubles with the axles before I switched to the 14mm one and it has greatly improved the possibility and I can push with all my strength against the pegs with no worry.
